Purpose of the position

  • Technical Engineer supports the Technical Management as per his specialty (Powerplant-, Avionics-, Systems-, Structures-, and Cabin-) in controlling the Continuing Airworthiness requirements, and particularly the engineering aspect of Air Belgium aircraft, and contributes to improving the technical standard of aircraft in order to improve the safety level and the on–time performance.
  • This is based on a thorough analysis of all incoming airworthiness data to assess applicability and pertinence to Air Belgium operation, and implement as relevant.

Main activities and responsibilities

Within the assigned ATA 100 chapters, provide support to the Technical Management to:

  • Assess ADs, applicability, compliance, inform, prepare required engineering orders, task cards and material, encode in MIS. Keep control of the AD Binders.
  • Analyze Service documentation (SBs, SLs, SIB, etc…) and advise on pertinence and incorporation planning. Upon embodiment decision, prepare required engineering orders, task cards and material, encode in MIS.
  • Investigate possible aircraft modifications, propose solutions and upon embodiment decision, prepare required engineering orders, task cards and material, encode in MIS. Update Aircraft Modification status and keep control of the Aircraft Modifications Binders.
  • Review of pre-existing modification/STC data in order to ensure that aircraft documentation is amended accordingly.
  • Perform Technical Investigations after Occurrence Report involving aircraft technical defect or maintenance element.
  • Conduct reliability analyses and follow-up of issues identified through the Reliability Process.
  • Produce aircraft introduction files iaw BCAA requirements, and to compile re-delivery bible for aircraft returned to the lessors.
  • Airline representation during checks and shop visits (sporadically).

Education requirements and qualifications

  • Master in Engineering (preferably aeronautical, or electromechanical, or similar)
  • At least two years’ experience in an aviation / aeronautical environment.
  • Previous experience in a CAMO environment is an asset.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of aircraft maintenance techniques.
  • Previous experience on Airbus engineering environment is an asset
  • Good command of the English (written and spoken). French and Dutch are an asset.
  • Ability to synthetize complex technical texts into schematics and résumés.
  • Ability to make analyses, pro-actively propose areas of improvement.
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Good organizational skills, rigorous, precise, well organized to keep overview on projects, set priorities.
  • Able to maintain a professional office environment with due regard to confidentiality and security of aircraft data.
  • Computer literate with good administration skills, familiar with MS office and e-mail system.
  • Available to travel abroad from time to time mostly within Europe, but also intercontinental to be the engineering representative in aircraft / engine checks, to attend technical conferences and training, …
