Purpose of the position...
To assist the Safety Manager(s) in the performance of the Safety Management System.
Main activities and responsibilities…
Review safety occurrences reported in the SMS software and determine if the event is listed in the table published in the EASA regulations requiring mandatory CAA notification.
Ensure correct mandatory occurrence reporting to the CAA through the SMS software.
Classify the reports and ensure that the initial risk assessment is completed.
Follow-up of corrective actions in due time.
Assess the effectiveness of the corrective actions.
Present the Safety reports and related actions to Safety Manager(s) for approval before closing them.
Perform a Risk Assessment of Safety reports and Management of Changes in accordance with the Air Belgium Safety Management System procedures.
Safety promotion / Administrative tasks
Perform training on matters of Safety Management System.
Provide administrative support to the Safety Manager(s) for the publication of Safety Notes, Safety procedures and Safety Magazine.
Follow-up of Safety Performance Indicators.
Coordination of the Safety Action Groups (SAG), including the publication of the SAG Minutes of Meeting.
Prepare the presentation and Minutes of Meeting for the Safety Review Boards and Accountable Manager Meetings.
Display a positive, open and cooperative attitude in order to facilitate a good working relationship with all parties involved while maintaining a critical and analytical mindset.
Comply with Company policies, values and auditor’s code of ethics.
Comply with local, national legislations and health & safety standards.
Report to hierarchy any hazards, non-compliances and risks whether to employees or to the company.
Requirements and qualifications
Experience in the aviation industry, preferably within a commercial air transport airline as part of the technical, operational, safety or compliance monitoring department.
Fluent in French /English (both written and spoken), other European languages are an asset.
Good knowledge of Safety Management Systems.
Having completed a safety course.
Ability to communicate both written and verbal at all levels.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages is essential.
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines; mature attitude with willingness to further develop the role and department.
Assertive but tactful; able to deal with confidential information; high degree of integrity; good planner and organiser, able to work independently.
Willing to travel.
