About the vacancy…

The Engineering Manager organizes and controls the engineering activity on the entire aircraft fleet and ensures compliance to applicable regulations, excellent reliability and on time performance whilst keeping cost under control.

He or she  manages all aspects of the Airworthiness Directives in order to ensure that accomplishment (including AMOC approvals if applicable) can be achieved within an appropriate time frame and within the specified technical and financial boundaries. He or she ensures adequate recording of the aircraft status in terms of Airworthiness Directives, Life Limited Parts, Service Bulletins, Technical Orders, Structural Repairs, Damage Charts, etc in order to demonstrate airworthiness at any time to the BCAA.

The Engineering Manager acts as the spokesman on all engineering matters in order to defend the operator’s interests towards internal (maintenance and operations) as well as external parties (contracted engineering agencies, authorities). He or she heads the team of technical engineering staff and ensure that an environment is created in which new ideas and alternatives are encourage to ensure continuous improvement of the quality and efficiency in the way of working .

In addition the Engineering manager will assist the Technical Director during contracts negotiations and conduct contract review meetings with the sub-contracted engineering tasks providers.

About the profile...

The ideal candidate enjoys working with people and is loves to coach and motivate a team. He or she is a careful planner and keeps his cool when times get bumpy. He or she is positive, open and cooperative in order to facilitate a good relationship in- and outside the department and avoids or helps to solve conflicts.

He or she holds a Bachelor or Master in Engineering or can be considered equivalent due to a technical aviation background and having built up an experience during minimum 8 years within an airline environment of which 5 years in a Technical Management position. A good knowledge of the EASA and FAA regulations as well as a good command of EN and either FR or DU, both orally and verbally, is required. Experience in the specific aircraft type (Airbus A340 and A330) is an asset.
